Boone, North Carolina holds a special place in my heart.
It’s where I met my husband, and my best friends.
We had a friend reunion in the mountains. Our cabin was in Fleetwood,NC about 15 mins outside of Boone. You can stay there if you want: Appalachian Sunset.
We were originally going to leave G with the grandparents but, he/I aren’t ready for all of that. It worked out better than I expected. Although we weren’t able to stay up late, and party with our friends (boo-hoo). Funny thing about babies is they wake up at 7:00AM no matter what time YOU went bed. After sleeping in a king size bed for three nights, I’m working on convincing Page that we “need” one. I’m thinking of starting a go fund me.
I’ll give you a brief itinerary of our “baby-friendly” trip:
Day 1
Canyon’s for the margarita’s and the views. Side story: I worked here about six years ago. One day, I called in and said, “Hi, I’m not coming in today, or ever again.” I like to think I’ve matured since then. On our visit I apologized to the owner for my rude resignation. It’s never too late ya’ll.
Rough Ridge. A short, easy hike with incredible views.
Day 2
Lunch at Sunrise Grill. I got the “That’s a Wrap” chicken wrap, it was great. If you like dessert for breakfast, I recommend getting “The Grayson.” It’s raspberry cream cheese stuffed french toast- yum! It’s family owned and operated. Plus, there is putt-putt right next door!
Exploring around King St. and Appalachian State’s campus.
Local beers at Lost Province. I had the Lost Province IPA, and the Compass Rose Amber. Next time I will definitely be trying their wood fired pizza. If you don’t already know, pizza and beer is my love language.
Day 3
Price Park for lunch, outdoor games, and enjoying the beautiful Boone Weather. Plan A was tubing on the new river, but it ended up being too cold.
Day 4
Greenway trail for a picnic, and soaking in another gorgeous day. I spent a lot of time in college running walking here.
Downtown Boone for more walking, shopping, and running into random people know. We stopped into Walker college of business, and discovered the Transportation Insight Entrepreneurship Center. This was built after we graduated. It’s a place to facilitate community, and for student entrepreneurs to work on the business ventures. We would have totally been running Coffee Crate there if this was available when we were in college.
Other favorite places: Stickboy, Appalachia Cookie Company, Melanie’s, Appalachian Mountain Brewery, Espresso News, and Boone Saloon.
Being with our friends is pure joy. I can’t wait to get together again. Sharing meals, and coffee for twelve makes me so happy. I look forward to my friend’s having babies so we can do this family thing together. Life. Scroll for all that mountain goodness. A couple of the photos I snagged from friends, thanks ya’ll.
Isn’t Boone beautiful? Boone summers are heaven on earth.
