I’m recapping this past weekend while wearing a chunky baby, and bouncing on an exercise ball.
We’ve been out of town a lot, it’s been fun. I can avoid the disaster that is our house, and we get to go on these amazing mini vacations. This past weekend, we ventured to the coast to visit some friends ,and take baby G to the beach for the first time. The ocean was blue and the water practically clear. Wrightsville Beach is about two hours from where we live. It makes for a quick and easy trip, G napped the entire time. We have another beach trip coming up, so we’ll call this one a trial run. Here are some quick tips for beaching with the babe:
1. Bring a baby container. We had a plastic storage bin in our car so we put a little water in it. It was great for rinsing off sand and entertaining the baby. A cheap baby pool is awesome too, for babies that can’t escape yet.
2. Wear your baby. That’s been something I would advise for all baby trips. Our dude was able to nap to sound of the ocean. Bonus baby wearing tip:purchase a cool towel, like this one.
3. Buy sunscreen that doesn’t have potentially dangerous ingredients. Do your research, just because it says “baby sunscreen” doesn’t mean it’s good. Truth be told, we forgot sunscreen and towels on the first day. Fortunately, our friends were way more prepared than us. They even packed us lunch! We remembered beer and Kubb, which are equally important.
4.Use the cover of your reusable diaper as a swim diaper.
5. Bring some form of shade and a hat for your baby, maybe not this hat. We sat under the pier which is great for shade. You’ll just need to walk further down to get in the water, so you don’t crash into the pier.
